Henry Dearborn

Henry Dearborn (23 febbraio 1751 - 6 giugno 1829) è stato un medico e statista americano. Fu un veterano sia della guerra di rivoluzione americana che della guerra del 1812.

Rappresentò questo distretto come democratico-repubblicano nel terzo e quarto Congresso (1793-1797). Nel 1801, il presidente Thomas Jefferson lo nominò Segretario della Guerra, carica che mantenne per otto anni fino al 7 marzo 1809.

Legacy

Nel 1803, Lewis e Clark diedero il nome di Dearborn al fiume Dearborn nel Montana centro-occidentale. Anche la contea di Dearborn nell'Indiana, Dearborn nel Michigan e Dearborn nel Missouri presero il suo nome, così come Fort Dearborn a Chicago nell'Illinois.

Suo figlio, Henry A. S. Dearborn, fu membro del Congresso nel 1831-1833.
