La stagione 2005-06 della NHL è stata la 88ª stagione della National Hockey League. I playoff della Stanley Cup 2006 iniziarono il 21 aprile 2006 e terminarono il 19 giugno. I Carolina Hurricanes sconfissero gli Edmonton Oilers. Questa fu la prima Stanley Cup per gli Hurricanes.
La stagione 2004-05 fu cancellata a causa di una disputa sindacale con la NHL Players Association. La disputa riguardava il Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) tra la lega e i suoi giocatori.
